Trivia Night was a huge success! We had a huge turn out, and all of the silent auction items were bid on! Audra and I got there around 6 to help set up, and get prepared for people coming in. People started arriving around 6:15 to sign in, get their table, and get food. While people were arriving, Audra and I were directing people to the silent auction table. Once the trivia started Lori Hayden told us we could leave, but we decided to stay and play some trivia, because there was an open table for us to use. Every body there had a great time, and donated a lot of money through the silent auction. Overall, this was a great project to help with because the Hayden's were amazing to work with and amazing people. It was great to be able to help them with their cause, and hopefully help a lot of people with the money that was raised. This project showed me how much work goes into running a foundation, and all the preparation needed for a one night event!

Last week, Audra, Matt, and I went around to local business to ask for donations and sponsorships. We got a shirt from Barrel Racing Baristas, and donations from Axe Head threads. We also picked up over $1000 in donations in that one day. I also got tickets to a Heart concert, six tickets to an Indians game, and a wine basket. We have been working hard emailing for donations and sponsorships, without getting many responses. But when we went to business, we got much more feedback, and people willing to follow up with us and Matt. Overall, we are really happy with the progress we have made with the website improvements, social media, emails, and donations. We are also SOLD OUT for Trivia Night!
Audra and I met with Lori and Matt a few weeks ago to discuss how we could help them. They told us that they were planning on having a Trivia Night Fundraiser in May. They asked us to reach out to businesses for donations for silent auction baskets that they will also have at the Trivia Night. They also asked us to work on their social media and their website. I also created a flyer to advertise the Trivia Night. After that meeting Audra and I created a Instagram account for the Matt Hayden Foundation and we created a list of businesses to ask fro donations from. A couple of weeks ago we met wit Lori and Matt again. They gave us edit access to their website and Facebook. We also talked about the flyer changes, and any website changes they wanted. Since then I have finished the flyer, and posted it on the website and Facebook. I am now working on the fixes to the website and the payment method for Trivia Night through the website.
After finishing up our semester one big project (Giving Trees), Audra and I need to come up with a new idea for semester two. We thought about causes or organizations that we could volunteer for, help fundraise, and help them in any way they needed. We decided that we wanted to reach out to the Matt Hayden foundation because we have both known Matt for a while since he helps with sports teams at New Pal. We reached out to Lori Hayden, Matt's mom and one of the leaders of the foundation, to see what help we could provide. We talked to them after school Wednesday because Matt would be there for the girls basketball practice anyway. They told us that they were planning on having a Trivia Night Fundraiser on May 3rd. They did this same fundraiser in October, but they did not advertise the event, the majority of people that went were invited directly from Matt and Lori. Although they still made very good money for the Foundation, they wanted our help with promoting the event. They also want to add a silent auction to the trivia night. Audra and I will be asking businesses for donations that people can bid on at the trivia night. We have not made much progress yet, but we know what are goals are and we have a plan. I am really excited to start this and hopefully raise a lot of money for the Matt Hayden Foundation.
